More than a week later than expected, but it’s here, the official press release from Aston Martin about the V12 Vantage Roadster. The full text is at the bottom of this post, but really, there’s nothing new here. It’s the exact same information that I already published on Monday last week.
Last Saturday, I already posted about the white V12 Vantage Roadster that was spotted in London by Alex Penfold. At the time, only one photo was available on his Flickr and Facebook page. But in the meantime, more photos have appeared on GTSpirit.com.
I contacted Alex, asking whether I could also post these photos here and he gave me permission to do so.
These new pics really show the beauty of the open-top V12 Vantage, but also the peculiar specification of this particular specimen. Let’s take a look:
Just got confirmation from Aston Martin Lagonda that my V12 Vantage Roadster is going to be #002 of 101!
How cool is that
Also, they reported that my “Allocation Date” ( = start of production ) is October 13, 2012. Which probably means my Roadster is going to be one of the first cars built.
The early production date also means I have only 10 days left for the final specification. Ouch… Going to visit my dealer tomorrow to do a first round of specifying.
I already know it’s going to be Cobalt Blue, with lots of carbon and black.
Wow, that was fun! Yesterday’s post with the full details and first pictures about the V12 Vantage Roadster went viral all over the internet!
First dutch car blog AutoBlog.nl picked it up, then TopGear.nl and dutch newspaper Telegraaf.nl. Soon car related sites all over Europe starting taking over the news and pictures. Later in the day, after WordCarFans.com posted the photos, it exploded all over the world. Today still more and more sites are replicating the big news
Finally, after 3 years of rumors, it’s official:
Aston Martin is going to produce a limited run (exactly 101 units) of the V12 Vantage Roadster! Here it is, the ultimate Aston Martin and the most brutal convertible ever made:
No official news yet, but rumors about a possible V12 Vantage Roadster are popping up on the underbelly of the interwebs: the car nut forums and blogs.
On the same day, May 21, “V12 Vantage Roadster” related posts appeared on two different car forums and one car blog: Continue reading
In December last year, automotive sites all over the world suddenly came with V12 Vantage Roadster news, most sites pointing to GTspirit.com as the source.
GTSpirit.com claims that mr. Aston Martin himself, dr. Ulrich Bez, confirmed to “one of their representatives” that the V12 Vantage Roadster would be introduced in 2012. The convertible edition of the V12 Vantage would feature a 6.0 liter V12 engine delivering 510 bhp, 570 Nm of torque and a top speed of 305 km/h, similar to it’s coupe brother. Continue reading
Another year goes by. No sign of an Aston V12 Roadster, no announcements from Gaydon, no news, no spy shots, no rumors even.
But then something special appeared in my dealer’s showroom: a used (ex press car) V8 Vantage S Roadster. As usual with press cars, it was beautifully spec’d and full option: Stratus White with a dark-blue rag top and a dark blue / piano black interior, blue stitching, B&O system, the works…
Fast forward to mid 2010.
Still no V12 Vantage Roadster.
I was visiting my Aston Martin dealer and found they had a new V12 Vantage in their showroom, in freaking Fire Red! Ouch.
To my defense, I was able to resist buying it for 3 whole months. But then I caved…
And I have never regretted it. I still own and love this powerful beauty.
